Note: This post is a revised version of what was sent to us recapping the walk. We will be updating with our own pictures and stories soon. We just wanted to get something up here for you guys! The picture above is of Nikki and I walking out of Southfork Ranch taken by one of the “Walker Stalkers” that followed us around all three days. We are behind the woman in the white sweatshirt.

We did it! We gave our heart, soul, sweat and tears for three days and created some remarkable memories along the way.

It all began with an inspiring Opening Ceremony at Southfork Ranch in Parker, TX. With the theme song from “Dallas” kicking off our journey. We were greeted by a beautiful sunrise over the ranch, complete with views of the resident horses and bulls. Friday’s route took us through Plano, Richardson, Dallas and Murphy, where support from the community was all around and excited cheers from local elementary school students put an extra spring in our step!

Saturday morning was chilly as Santa greeted us for breakfast in camp. As we headed out for a 20.7-mile route the weather warmed up and there was not a cloud in the sky. The scenic route took us through Carrollton, Plano and Dallas on numerous park trails, and we enjoyed lunch at the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. Some pink unicorns were even spotted, as male crew members got in to the Breast Cancer 3-Day spirit! The cheering stations seemed endless, as crowds came out to support our efforts. Thousands of hugs were shared by both walkers and crew.

On Sunday, there was excitement in the air as we left Timberglen Park for the final day of our journey. We made our way through Addison, Dallas and University Park in an incredible 17.9 miles. It all culminated with a beautiful Closing Ceremony at picturesque Southern Methodist University.

The money we raised will go a long way to help Susan G. Komen for the Cure and the National Philanthropic Trust Breast Cancer Fund save lives.

Thank you for all of the support of our family and friends. Without you we would not have been able to do this. We had an incredible time, met some amazing people, and feel so accomplished. We will update you soon with more details!

Thank you so much to everone who has supported Nikki & I throughout our journey this year. We have been working hard to raise money and train for the event, and we cannot believe it is almost here… just one more day!

Our matching funds just hit yesterday, and we have raised over $6000 together! With the addition of our four new team members, we raised over $15,000 for Susan G. Komen for the Cure. I feel very accomplished and ready to walk the 60 miles.

I’ve mentioned the Cheering Stations and Opening/Closing Ceremonies in the past, but if you missed those posts I suggest you check out the SUPPORTER GUIDE for the 2008 DFW event. There you will be able to find directions to both ceremonies, as well as the cheering stations for all 3 days.

Also, there will be a Live Breast Cancer 3-Day Camp Webcam:

Your loved ones are just a click away thanks to the LIVE Breast Cancer 3-Day Camp Webcam! The webcam will be available for viewing between the hours of 2:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Friday and Saturday during the event. Visit this page during the event to access the link to the webcam. (Video only. No audio.)

I am sure Nikki, Summer, Courtney, Karen, Ana & I will drop by to wave to all of our supporters, friends and family during those two days. Right now I am washing clothes and getting ready to pack my bag. Also, I will be posting photos all three days from my Blackberry onto Facebook, so be sure to add me as a friend before tomorrow if you’d like to be one of the first to view our experience as it happens. We will also post all of the photos later next week after we get a chance to rest.

Thanks again, and we’ll see you all after the walk: 60 Miles or BUST!

She makes beautiful handmade totes, and was sweet enough to make us some special Breast Cancer totes for the 3-Day. She makes a variety of sizes and styles. If you are interested, go visit her blog and take a look at her newest creations. I only wish I were as talented. We love the extra details, like the special pockets inside and out and the bows on each side. These bags are high quality and huge too– Nikki carried her laptop to work in hers today. We both commented that they easily could be sold in a boutique. Here are a few pictures:

I found some awesome pink camo t-shirts online a month ago that I was going to order for our team so that we could be unified during our garage sale and the actual Breast Cancer 3-Day event. When we found out how much they were going to cost, we weren’t so sure we wanted to move forward with them. We’ve all been working hard to fundraise all year and are strapped for cash ourselves. That’s when Courtney got with her contact, Charlotte from Airmark Industries, who was able to find us the same t-shirts for a pretty big discount. We even ordered matching green ones with a pink logo for our significant others.

We love the shirts and more so the fabulous service we received from Charlotte. If you are looking for some awesome and reasonable custom team t-shirts for the Breast Cancer 3-Day, I definitely suggest you get in contact with her. She is fast, friendly and affordable. Here is her info:

Is anyone tired of me talking about the 3-Day yet? There is less than a month to go, so it’s almost here! We had our final fundraiser yesterday and we feel like it was a success. We started our “Yard Sale for the Cure” around 7 AM. Courtney had an awesome sign and hats made up (look for pictures later today). We also had team t-shirts done, but they didn’t make it in time for the sale. We’ll have them in time for the walk though! We made over $500, and didn’t have a whole lot of big ticket items.

We had a few really nice people drive by and donate which felt awesome, in addition to a man who came by to tell us about his wife who passed away from breast cancer. It was so sad. He went back to his car to leave, and then came back and brought us a bag of pink Pepperidge Farm cookies. We were all really moved and touched. We also had survivors come by, in addition to Linda and Grace who work the route on the event and Jan who drives one of the sweep vans on event. It was awesome to hear first hand some of things we have to look forward to and get some tips. We were so glad that they stopped by to share their stories with us.

With the event just around the corner, I’d also like to share the Cheering Stations that you can come by and meet us at during our journey. We would love to see you and get your support!

Cheering Stations are a great way to show your support along the route to encourage walkers and let them know that you are with them every step of the way. Seeing familiar faces cheering them on can provide that extra burst of energy that gets them to take that next step or go the next mile. Create banners, hold up signs, bring some music and make some noise - anything to make them smile, get energized and keep walking.

Here are a few pictures. Courtney took a ton of fabulous ones, so when she sends them Monday or next week I’ll add them too:

Craig, Nikki & I stood on the corner of Alma with bras and signs. It was a blast!

We set up a table with lemonade, baked goods and pictures of our loved ones.

If any of my friends or readers are in the DFW area, I’d like to invite you to come out and support us this weekend at our Yard Sale for the Cure. We will be setting up at Nikki’s house on Saturday morning and will stay as long as shoppers and donations are coming. All of the proceeds will benefit our 2008 Breast Cancer 3-Day walk. There will also be a bake sale and lemonade stand in addition to breast cancer awareness items.

We have four new team members also. Two friends from high school who I haven’t seen in close to ten years (or more) have joined us, as well as two other wonderful local women who have had breast cancer touch their lives and their families. I am encouraged and hopeful that this is going to be a wonderful experience, and I am so happy to share it with this group of women.

We are meeting tonight to discuss the plans as well as walk as a team for the first time. We are excited for the 3-Day to be here. Can you believe it is exactly a month away?!

Here is Nikki’s address if you can join us. We will be setting up bright and early Saturday morning. Come by and say hello and show your support:
